Mike Jalonen is the North American Senior Precious Metals Analyst and Global Coordinator Metals and Mining Global Research with the firm of Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Based in Toronto, Mike joined BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research in May 1989 as a gold analyst through the firm’s acquisition of Midland Walwyn. Mike was appointed Global Coordinator for the Metals and Mining group in February 2009.

Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Mike worked as a gold analyst with Dean Witter Canada for 18 months, as a financial analyst with Somicom Mining Management for close to two years and nearly two years as an exploration geologist with Nanisivik Mines in the Northwest Territories.

Mike earned a B.Sc. Honours in Geology from the University of Windsor and earned his MBA from McMaster University. Mike is a highly ranked analyst in the annual Brendan Woods survey of the Canadian precious metals sector. Mike is also a CFA charterholder.

Steven Butler, B.Sc., MBA joined GMP Securities in May 2016 and relaunched sector coverage in July. He is Managing Director and lead gold analyst, covering the large-cap sector as well as selected mid-cap and small-cap names. He has over 22 years of experience in capital markets, including previous positions as a ranked analyst and mining specialist salesperson at independent and global investment dealers. Steve’s educational background includes a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from Queen’s in 1988 and an MBA from Dalhousie in 1991.

A research analyst in precious metals for nine years (Credit Suisse, 2007 to present, Merrill Lynch 2005-2007), Anita Soni is responsible for research coverage of the North American senior and intermediate gold producers. Anita also has six years of consulting engineering experience
as a project engineer in the mining group within Golder Associates Ltd., an earth sciences consulting engineering firm.

Anita holds Bachelor and Masters of Applied Science degrees in Civil Engineering and is a Professional Engineer and a CFA charterholder.

Based in Sydney, David has over 10 years' experience as a mining analyst, and 6 years' in industry with WMC, Newmont and Gympie Gold. Former Vice President of Mining Research Nomura, Analyst BMO Capital Markets, Global Mining Research, and Aegis Equities. David is technically qualified as a geologist.

Principal, Metals & Mining Equity Research at Eight Capital covering Senior North American Industrial Metals and Precious Metals companies and Commodities. Previous experience includes being a key member of the Global Metals & Mining Equity Research Teams at Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank, covering North American Industrial Metals & Precious Metals equities in Toronto and New York, as well as Corporate Banking at Royal Bank of Canada.

Bachelor in Engineering degree from Ryerson University's School of Civil Engineering; Masters in Business Administration from the University of Windsor's Odette School of Business; and CFA charterholder.

Andrew Breichmanas joined Stifel in February 2021 to cover the Metals & Mining sector from London. He brings 15 years of equity research experience at BMO Capital Markets and Desjardins Securities covering global precious and base metal companies ranging from explorers to senior producers. He was previously at a technical consultancy where he provided project design, construction, and commissioning services for mining clients and qualified as a professional engineer.

Tara Hassan is an Equity Analyst with over ten years of experience in the Junior and Intermediate Precious Metals Sector, currently Director of Mining Content and Strategy for VRIFY.
Formerly Senior VP, Equity Analyst-Mining at Raymond James Ltd. for 3 years. She joined the Haywood Securities research team in 2012 to 2016. Tara has worked as a Mining Analyst for more than five years, with previous experience at National Bank Financial and prior to that at Toronto-based boutique

investment bank, M Partners. In these roles, Tara initiated coverage on junior mining companies, recording a high success rate of identifying takeover targets and substantially undervalued companies.

Before entering the financial services industry in 2007, Tara worked in the mining industry for Inco (now Vale) and Placer Dome (now Barrick Gold). At these companies, she held operating, engineering and project-focused roles, working at eight different mines and gaining experience in a wide variety of underground and open-pit mining situations. Tara is a Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
